This week I'm sharing one of the mashups that I did for Sydney WorldPride 2023.
Basement Jaxx x Faith Evans - Red Alert x Mesmerized (Shigeki WP2023 Mashup)
Mesmerized is one of the songs that remind me of the happy memories of when I was living in Sydney. The Freemasons remix was a huge hit in 2005 and it was played everywhere. I think it's one of the finest work by Freemasons. My other favs are their remixes of The One by Kylie and Million Dollar Bill by Whitney. I bought the Mesmerized single on vinyl which came with the accapella, so I did a mashup with Passion by Gat Decor and played it a lot in my sets at Midnightshift. (I will share it here at some point.)
When I was getting ideas for my Sydney WorldPride sets, I came across the instrumental version of the Grant Nelson's remix of Red Alert by Basement Jaxx and immediately thought of doing a mashup with Mesmerized. I'm very happy with how it turned out and I was feeling playful enough to chop up the chorus where she sang 'you put that thang on me, that thang babe'. I played it several times in my sets over WorldPride so the song has more happy memories attached to it. I hope you like it.
